Car Sharing

Through a partnership with Zipcar, Metro offers car sharing, an innovative transportation option for Metro riders at select Metrorail stations and around the region at locations convenient to Metrobus.

Now you can ride Metro and then pick up a car (just steps from the train or bus) to run errands, shop or reach any other business or social event not easily accessible via transit.

Car sharing is available in Metro Kiss & Ride lots at 39 of the 86 Metrorail stations throughout the system (see station pages for locations) and many other neighborhood locations both near Metrorail stations without K&R lots and elsewhere in the region.

A range of vehicles are available for members to choose from, including compact cars, vans, pickup trucks, convertibles and gas/electric hybrids. For vehicle locations and availability see www.zipcar.com/find-cars/.

Carsharing companies work on a membership basis. You pay an annual membership fee, then reserve and pick up a car when you need it. Depending on your reservation, you are billed by the hour or by the day for your usage. Various pricing plans are available. Pricing includes gas (up to 180 miles), insurance, cleaning, maintenance and parking at the reserved location. See www.zipcar.com for details.

Car sharing members with disabilities requiring a vehicle equipped with hand-controls may reserve a vehicle on-line or via phone.
